True Gospel Echoes Biography page
Playing since 1980 in local schools and churches doing benefits and concerts, The True Gospel Echoes had their first recording in 1982 titled "Vision of a Golden Crown" written by Earl Wright, an acappella style gospel song later recorded by Ralph Stanley and Don Rigsby. After the group formed as the True Gospel Echoes in 1999 they recorded a project titled "I'm Free". Then in 2000 they released a project titled "Old Cabin Home". In 2001 they released a project titled "Judean Mountain. (See our-music) Then in February of 2002 they recorded and released a project titled " The Eagle is Coming" (see "our-music") written by Hurl Bates of West Liberty Ky as a tribute to 911 to express the anger and hurt felt by the United States of America. This song has achieved worldwide recognition. If you have not heard this song yet it is a must hear. With this occurance The True Gospel Echoes obtained national recognition through out the United States and has brought about many appearances on Radio,TV and in many festivals. In late 2002, The True Gospel Echoes released "Did They Have Time To Pray" written by Sonya Patton of Campton Ky, another song dedicated to 911 with a more spiritual aspect. To hear this song is also a must.
Another great song "First Sunday in May" written by Mr. Joy Baits of West Liberty Ky, is also on the same CD. They then released a project called "Call of the Dove In November 2004. "Call of the Dove" title song was written by "Earl Wright."
Another favorite patriotic song is "Freedom is not Free" (arranged by "Hershell Wright") reminds us all of the true cost of our freedom, . Two other CDs, one released in 2004 called "Echoes From the Past" and the other all gospel acappella recording titled "True Mountain Gospel" was released in 2005.
True Gospel Echoes does performances in festivals like The Annual Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Morehead, Ky, Mountain Days Bluegrass Festival in Dayton Oh, The Ridge Runner Bluegrass Festival in Morgan County, Ky, The Thomasville Culture Center in Thomasville, Ga., Sipp Cinema in Paintsville, Ky. and The Old Mill Bluegrass Festival in Old Mill Park, West Liberty, Ky, just to mention a few. They also perform with other artists on stage such as Ralph Stanley, Dave Evans and Larry Sparks, just to mention a few.
The True Gospel Echoes members consists of Hershell Wright, Charlie T. Wright, James R. Wright, Dennis Marshall, and Bryan Russell. This five-piece band consists of Banjo, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and mandolin.
