Stevie Hall's Biography

I was born in 1957 and raised in a small town in eastern Kentucky called Printer. My parents Marie and John Hall raised me listening to bluegrass music. They bought me my first guitar when I was a teenager. I learned to play by ear without lessons. I enjoyed the old time singers, yet my favorite has always been, Larry Sparks because of his detailed guitar picking.

My wife Phyllis got me involved in going to church when we started dating in the 70's. In 1979 I became a Christian and we were married in 1980. I recorded my first bluegrass tape in 1981. The band was called the Bluegrass Gospelaries. We recieved the name and support from George Barnett. Since then I have played with many great musicians that range from good old neighbor country boys playing on the front porch, to recording stars playing on stage. For the past twenty five years God has truly blessed me.

We now live in Lawrence County Kentucky. Due to a minning accident I am disabled from work, but I will still continue to sing as long as God blesses me to do so. We have two beautiful daughters, Amber and Cassidy and the light of my life, and me as his name sake, River Stephen Ray, my five year old grandson.

My home church is Unity Baptist in Blaine KY. The people there are some of the best you could ever meet. This past year God has answered when I joined the Ridge Runner Gospel Boys. We spend our time playing in church benifits, ect... this is a true blessing. My goal is to keep singing and playing my music as long as God allows.
